Don't be turned away by the emptiness of this place if you come by. The lady who runs the restaurant is lovely and the food was delicious! Our table of 3 were the only ones there at 9pm on a Sunday and we thought about not going in, but it got great ratings so figured we should give it a try. The food and atmosphere was very homey, like being at home with my own mom cooking. Banchan is delicious and she refills it often!

This place is run by an adorable family. However, the food doesn't taste so authentically Korean. (I suspect they might be Chinese, with their emphasis on dumplings...) The Tofu Soup was a bit diluted, and the other soup was heavy on white pepper (another mainstay Chinese condiment.) I feel they also kinda skimp out on you: not so much meat in the soups that we ordered, and, to our surprise, they didn't let us get more banchans. 🙁

I picked Um Ma Son among all the nearby choices by looking at the menus online because it looked like a menu from a small neighborhood restaurant in Seoul vs. one in San Francisco. The main difference in the experience vs. my expectation is that the taste is more home cooked style vs. restaurant. As such, the sauces are a little tame vs. what you get in Korean restaurants. Still it was a hit with the family. The owner is a very nice, pleasant host.

Amazing food and service! We had a table for 10 so we ordered practically everything! I particularly liked the bibimbap, BBQ pork and the beef stew! They cook from the heart. Very unassuming place with incredible service. We'll be back!

Excellent Korean food served by the chef/owner. Try the spicy tofu soup with seafood, the spicy pork and kalbi. Nothing is overly sweet or salty unlike other places. Kid friendly as well
